ABOUT CRYSTAL
A little back story....
From my earliest memories, dance has always been a part of my life. When I was young, my family could not afford formal dance lessons. Fortunately, my father was an amazing dancer and became my first teacher. The skills he gained as a young man competing in rock ‘n’ roll dance competitions proved invaluable when guiding his daughter toward a career in dance.
As a child of the ’90s, I was obsessed with watching Shakira videos, carefully analyzing and replicating each movement until I had mastered entire video choreographies. By the time I entered high school, my obsession with and passion for dance led me to join the school’s dance team.
Over the next three years, I honed my skills in a wide variety of styles, including hip-hop, salsa, bachata, jazz, ballroom, tango, and many more. This experience not only exposed me to a broader spectrum of dance but transformed this once shy, reserved young woman into a confident performer and teacher.
Long before I started university, I knew I wanted a career in dance and, ultimately, to own my own studio. With that goal in mind, I studied dual majors in Kinesiology and Dance, graduating in 2015 with my bachelor’s degree.
I quickly opened that first studio and realized my lifelong dream. I was 24 and running the original CrystalArts location in Tarzana, California. Over the next six years, I had opened two more physical locations, including ArtBox studio in Encino, California.
Through these studios, I have taught countless students in both group classes and private one-on-ones. From that first studio to now, my mission has remained steadfast: to share my passion for dance and empower others to transform their lives through movement and creativity, just as it transformed mine.
